Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is an alternative economic model for distributing locally grown produce. It’s relationship between farmers and their community that’s formed at the beginning of the growing season and carried on throughout the year. In this model, members pay for a share of produce at the beginning of the growing season and pick up a share of the farm’s harvest each week throughout the season. This provides farmers “seed money” to purchase necessary items to start growing food for their communities, while providing consumers with fresh locally grown produce from farmers they know and trust.
